“The Indigo Child is a boy or girl who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes, revealing a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. This pattern has singularly unique factors that call for parents and teachers to change their treatment and upbringing of these kids to assist them in achieving balance and harmony in their lives, and to help them avoid frustration.”

– Lee Carroll & Jan Tober

How can you tell if you are an Indigo?

A good way to “test” yourself is to answer the following:

Are you always searching for your greater purpose in life but feel like the world isn’t set up for your kind?

Do you sometimes feel wise beyond your years?

Do you have trouble conforming to the ways of society?

Do you feel out of place in today’s world?

Do you perceive the world very differently than most people around you?

Do you have strong intuition about certain things that most others do not?

Do you often feel misunderstood when you try to talk to people about what’s real?

Are you a truth seeker?

Do you feel like you were born to accomplish a special mission in life?

Do you feel isolated and alone in your beliefs?

Misunderstood by family?

Do you feel anti-social unless you are with people of like mind?

Are you emotionally sensitive?

Did you have a difficult childhood?

Do you often feel disempowered by too much authority?

Did you realize after 18 years that some guys on the internet love you closer to “unconditionally” than your own parents?

Did you realize that this realization ain’t actually so bad?

  2. 2 Jeff

Hahaha, that would be a yes to all of them.

  3. 3 John

YES! I feel that way all the time. I feel like the world isn’t ready for me. I feel the sickness of the world on my shoulders sometimes.

  4. 4 Chris

    Yeah, I am an Indigo.
Indigo children are here to purge the way for the Crystal children.

I think the Indigo children are in their early 20s,
however not all are indigos though, only certain chosen ones, I think.

2012, the world will wake up to us…maybe I can be President at 28…election year, you know. :-D

The whole Indigo thing really fascinates me, and I’m really (REALLY) surprised there has “never been anyone” like us in previous generations. Wise beyond your years is just the beginning. INTUITION beyond belief is the real big deal. And nobody wants to admit a bunch of kids are lightyears beyond them either.

    Evolution, my dear Watson, Evolution.

All yes but maybe we’re just patting ourselves on the back. Do we really know we’re more special or even more unique than other people? A lot of people think they’re different from everyone else. Maybe we’re just trying to elevate our sense of self worth by giving ourselves names like “indigo child.” This seems silly and arrogant. People would rather belief that they are “the future” or “the next generation” or “evolution” but more likely we’re pretty close to everyone else. If you want to feel special, do something special, don’t just imagine that you already are.

ha, well. That’s me in a nutshell. I’m not quite sure what that means, if anything. I’ve never heard of this before. I’m intrigued, you should tell us more :)

    Hell yeah!

I feel WELL beyond 20 years old.

Sure, it may sound soothing, that one is in a way special or ‘chosen’, but it can be a trap, too.
As for me, I don’t want to believe that I’m somehow special. I want to believe that everybody can be courageous, that everybody can pursue his life-dream, no matter when he was born.

I believe all it takes is a deep personal crisis to wake someone up.
I want to believe in the Hundredth Monkey Effect.

Wait, wasn’t these the questions for testing if you have ADHD? xD

  11. 11 Aaron

The term indigo child was once defined as a child with psychic abilities (like a young Sylvia Browne for instance) but the current definition has become so broad that it describes feelings felt by almost all children at various times in their lives. I bet if you took a poll right now of all children, they would answer “YES” to one or more of those questions. So either being an indigo child isn’t as “special” or “outside the norm” as people think or the original definition of Indigo child is rarer and more accurate.

I recognize the sickness of this world, sometimes I can feel it..
just as others my age that I’ve talked to can.

there is something I’m curious about.
a lot of Christians in the US are tripping out about the Chapter Revelation, saying its happening, and 666 and stuff..
Steph, do you have any knowledge on the the Bible, and Jesus, and the chapter Revelation?

I’m without a job right now, and I don’t have membership to your forums yet..
can you shed some light on this here?
    thanks.

I had heard about “Indigo Children” years ago, but I didn’t think I was one.

But then a few weeks ago, I came across a list similar to this one and every single item on that list applied to me. So I started doing some research and came to the realization that I was as indigo as they come.

According to Wikipedia, as many as 70% of young people in their teens and twenties are indigo, although most do not realize it (just as I didn’t until recently). As ChrisSutton said, it’s evolution. The world is in the midst of a spiritual awakening, and we are the vanguard of that force of change.

and what if we are these children? who’s to teach us what we need to know? there’s too many of us and not enough teachers..

  15. 15 Bo

Even if you feel and experience those things. How can one be certain that he is in fact an indigo child? And what do I do with the knowledge? I feel like I should be doing something progressively, but no one listens. Its tough stuff…

i’m 52 years old and am definitly indigo.
three children i’ve mothered, all indigo - a blessing.

Hey guys, well I have to say that I answer “YES” to many of these questions. However, I completely agree with Dyl….. I believe MOST of us are just trying to put ourself up and feel superior to the “others” that are not “indigo” (Including myself in many occasions). Personally, I don’t want to feel out place, I don’t want to feel as if I was superior or inferior to ANYONE else. In fact, I want to be able to share my life and learn from people that is slightly or totally different than me, I feel thats one of the things that makes me grow as a human being, and honestly I believe that feeling different and superior to them because I’m “indigo” and they are not, will not help me to understand and love other people for what they are.

    Cheers, Joel.

To the gentleman asking questions about Revelation, here’s what you need to know. Revelation the book is not necessarily key to “end of the world” prophecy, it fits more in line with a description of how “Armageddon” is supposed to happen a timeline if you will. The idea is that when it happens you will know unmistakably. Before this time though Christ is prophesied to take his rightful place on the thrown as ruler of all Mankind, this occurs transparently to humans because it is an event happening in “Heaven.” So naturally Jesus disciples asked “what will be the sign of your presence?” Jesus answered in Matthew 24:6-12 I highly recommend you read for yourself and form your own opinion as to whether or not the “christians” are warranted in their freaking out or just looking for a light at the end of this dark spiritual tunnel their living in?
